"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Mat 11:28-30

Here’s a good idea….another way to go out “beyond ourselves” in our prayers. “Praying Households” is a concept developed in India in 1985 and has since spread to the UK , USA and other places. The idea is for a family to pray together for their neighborhood, or a small group, or simply Christian friends praying for the community. It is a powerful way to bring neighborhoods and communities and their needs before God.
Go to: www.prayerguide.org.uk for more information and inspiration and click on the Prayer Guide site. (Also check out suggestions for prayer in families and prayer with others).
Some things to pray for: 1) Pray for immediate neighbors around you……..maybe just start with 5 households………find out their names and what their needs might be…..pray they will come to know the Lord or continue to grow deeper in walking with Him. 2) Pray for the needs of the community: for schools, community life, those who are working in the community. 3) Pray for your own group and MCC, that we would continually be a positive witness in the community and to our neighbors realizing our potential as good Ambassadors for His Kingdom.
During WW II, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped.
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. If you would like to participate: each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, 8:00 PM Central, 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific, stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the up-coming election, and for the revival of Christianity in this great country. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have!
Do you ever wish there were a companion to join you on your journey into a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer? There is! Check out Pray! magazine
